Caries risk assessment

Abstract

Introduction: Correct health care requires more than just establishing the diagnosis and adequate treatment, it is important to recognize the cause that originated the condition and determine how it could have been avoided. Establishing caries risk is an important process in which a balance between caries risk and protection factors must be considered, for which different tools must be used to determine caries risk. The development of personalized and comprehensive treatment plans is essential. Objective: To determine caries risk through risk factors and tools such as computer programs, in order to prevent, reverse and treat the disease. Material and methods: Different questionnaires and computer programs were carried out, such as diet evaluation, O'Leary index, Cariogram, Cambra and My dentistry CRA. Results: In the different tools applied, the risk of caries is minimal, except for My denstistry CRA, in which the patient has a high risk. Conclusions: The patient presents severe anterior dental crowding, for which we consider that the risk factor is the incorrect brushing technique, which is causing the high rate of dental plaque.
