Abstract

Introduction: Therapeutic goals following care under general anesthesia should be prevention of new caries lesions and behaviour management for dental care using multiple techniques. Objective of the report: To describe the dental desensitization of a patient with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) following care under general anesthesia. Case report: Signed informed consent. School patient, 9 years 1 month, ASD, Frankl 3 behavior. Mixed dentition first stage, high cariogenic risk, in caries activity. Subjected to ward in 2020. Today in conventional treatment in dental chair. Discussion: The poor ability of a patient with ASD to cooperate increases his risk of developing pathologies such as caries and periodontal disease and to receive care under general anesthesia. After care in the dental ward, it is essential to work on adaptation, since the use of techniques, protocols and individualized strategies according to their behavioral pattern allows for conventional care and periodic controls of a patient with ASD in the dental chair. Conclusion: The achievement of conventional care after a ward reduces the stress of the patient with ASD and his family, since a new care begins with the possibility of integrating preventive behaviors that benefit the conventional care in stages and the adaptation of the patient, giving him the tools that will help him to maintain his oral health and with this improve his quality of life.
