Digital dentistry applied to pediatric patients. Case report
Keywords:
Digital dentistry, pediatric patient, early childhood cariesAbstract
Introduction: Even though digital Dentistry is generally applied to adults, its incorporation into the care of pediatric patients is beneficial. The use of intraoral scanners offers a precise reproduction of the oral cavity, rendering a completely painless and simple procedure. Scanning provides a working ecosystem for digital planning, design, and printing, in such a way that avoids the discomfort associated with traditional methods. In addition, the material is chosen according to the procedure and the needs of the patient and operator, improving the experience for the pediatric patient. Case Report: A 4-year-old male patient, Frankl 1, with early childhood caries. Parents: "Concerned about their son's current oral health." Clinical and radiographic examination showed: in the maxilla, the loss of all the clinical crowns, except for teeth 55 and 65; in the mandible, active carious lesions in all teeth, except for units 75 and 85. Digital scanning was performed for the planning, design, and printing of the rehabilitation. Conclusion: The technology helped us provide quality care, achieving a pleasant experience for both the patient and his parents.
