Abstract

The purpose of the investigative work will be to quantify the dimensional changes: sagittal, transversal and vertical in the dental arches before and after being treated with orthopedic appliances, through digital analysis. Malocclusions are the consequences of the functional and morphological irregularity of the dental, muscular and bone components that make up the stomatognathic system. The main factors of malocclusions are environment and genetic factors. A diagnosis is essential when making a treatment plan. The diagnostic records (radiographs, intraoral and extraoral photographs, study models)that are made on patients at the beginning of orthopedic treatment are important for an appropriate analysis and an adequate treatment plan. The analysis of dental models is one of them, dental impressions must be precise to ensure the exact reproduction of the patient's intraoral condition, and this is not the case, despite improvements in the material, impression taking is still considered uncomfortable for the patient and time-consuming for the clinician. Once the impression of the patient's mouth has been obtained, it is necessary to make a plaster model and the need to store these dental models. For all these reasons, in recent years, technological advances have made their way into Dentistry and new tools such as three-dimensional (3D) digital dental models are now key in the dental clinical routine. These models obtained by extraoral or intraoral scanners allow measurements to be made on the images obtained accurately and more quickly. Otherwise, the methodological design will be a retrospective observational study, which consists of the collection of data already generated from patients.
