Abstract

Introduction: Uncomplicated coronal fracture affects the enamel and dentin without pulp exposure. The treatment of uncomplicated coronal fractures encompasses a wide range of therapeutic procedures such as polishing the sharp edges to avoid lacerations on the tongue and lips, temporary protection of the dentin, reconstruction with resin or with the patient's own tooth fragment. Case report: We present the case of an uncomplicated coronal fracture in a ten years old patient who came to the Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics Service of Centro Médico Docente la Trinidad for an emergency. After clinical and radiographic evaluation, there was evidence of enamel and dentin fracture without pulp exposure in the upper left central incisor. The tooth is not motile and contusion is observed at the bottom of the buccal vestibule. The patient brings the dental fragment in saline solution and with favorable conditions for its repositioning. Under local anesthesia, the area is cleaned and the tooth fragment is replaced, using dual cement and fluid resin. Conclusions: The treatment of uncomplicated coronal fractures by means of fragment repositioning is a good treatment option, as long as the fragment is available and preferably hydrated. This approach offers the patient conservative treatment and a more natural aesthetic.
