Abstract

Introduction: Anterior crossbite can be due to inappropriate dental inclinations or be associated with skeletal Class III due to maxillary retrusion, mandibular protrusion or both. Interceptive orthodontic treatment favors better growth and interincisive relation, by means of fixed or removable, intraoral or extraoral appliances. Clinical case: This is a 7-year-old female patient with a dental diagnosis of Class I type 1 and type 3 and premature contact of the incisors. The cephalometric diagnosis was Class I Biprotrusion, brachyfacial biotype, retrusion of the upper incisor and protrusion of the lower incisor. She was treated with a removable anterior expander with Eschler arch and posterior lifting planes. The anterior bite was uncrossed, the upper negative discrepancy was corrected and the arches were shaped. The patient is in dental Class I and remains under control during growth and development. Conclusion: In the case presented, the treatment of anterior crossbite by means of a removable anterior expander was successful and fast.
