Aesthetic rehabilitation under general anesthesia in preschool patients

Abstract

Introduction: Esthetics in the anterior sector favors self-esteem and health in preschool children. The aim of this report is to describe a clinical case with complex rehabilitation based on composite resins and pulp treatment under general anesthesia in pediatric patients. Case report: Preschool patient, 4 years 5 months old, Frankl 2, complete primary dentition, referred for treatment under general anesthesia for severe early childhood caries ceod: 16 and high cariogenic risk. Anamnesis, education and adaptation in a transversal way during the sessions and it was decided to perform treatment under general anesthesia due to the extent of the treatment and low cooperation of the patient. Pulp treatment, rehabilitation with composite resin and preparation of celluloid crowns in the anterior sector. Control at 2 days and 1 month post ward where polishing of restorations, application of fluoride varnish full mouth and continues with education and adaptation successfully. Conclusions: The use of general anesthesia in pediatric patients is an effective tool in complex treatments with low degree of cooperation of the child providing optimal conditions for rehabilitation, promoting self-esteem and general health of the child and his family.
