The oral health of our children is a fundamental pillar for their overall development. In Latin America, pediatric dentists face unique challenges that require innovative solutions based on scientific evidence.
The Latin American Association of Pediatric Dentistry (ALOP) is proud to present this special supplement, a compendium of the most outstanding research in the field of pediatric dentistry in our region.
ALOP has been fundamental in promoting research and collaboration among Latin American countries. The congresses and virtual meetings organized by ALOP have become essential spaces for sharing knowledge and experiences, thus fostering the development of our specialty. During the XXII Latin American Congress of Pediatric Dentistry, numerous scientific papers were presented, along with work from postgraduate residents and undergraduate students, all in a virtual format. These virtual meetings have provided a valuable platform for advancing pediatric dentistry in our region, enabling collaboration and the exchange of knowledge among specialists from different countries, enriching our clinical and academic practices.
All the works, after a rigorous selection and curation process, are presented and documented in this supplement of the Latin American Journal of Pediatric Dentistry. This issue is the result of a collective effort aimed at fostering research, advancing academic training, and promoting excellence in children’s oral health care. It stands as a testament to our community’s commitment to research and the continuous improvement of pediatric dental care.
This supplement offers the scientific and professional community a wide range of research addressing the most current challenges in pediatric dentistry. From caries prevention to the treatment of complex conditions, the presented papers provide solid and up-to-date evidence, reflecting the high quality of research in Latin America, Spain, and Portugal. The diversity of topics covered and the methodological rigor of the studies enrich our knowledge and provide valuable tools for daily clinical practice.
The participation of young researchers has been essential in enriching this supplement. Their enthusiasm and innovative ideas are a reflection of the promising future of our specialty. By promoting research from the early stages of professional training, we are ensuring the continued advancement of pediatric dentistry in Latin America. ALOP is committed to providing these young researchers with the necessary tools and opportunities to showcase their work.
Thanks to technology, we have been able to overcome geographical barriers and connect researchers from across the region. This collaborative work has raised the standards of pediatric dentistry research and has made a positive impact on the oral health of our children.
This special supplement reflects the dynamism and passion of our community. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the students, residents, faculty, and researchers who have shared their valuable work, to the reviewers and editors who have dedicated their time and expertise to ensure the quality of the publications, to the programmers who have made this platform possible, and to the scientific committee that has guided this project. Thanks to their commitment and dedication, this supplement has been made possible. Their dedication and commitment are essential for the success of ALOP and the advancement of our specialty.
We invite all pediatric dentists, researchers, and students to continue contributing their research to this collective effort. Let us join the challenge of improving children’s oral health in Latin America through research and collaboration.
