Ceromer crowns, an aesthetic alternative in pediatric dentistry: Case report
Keywords:
Ceromer crowns, aesthetic rehabilitationAbstract
Introduction. Early childhood caries can cause extensive structural loss in primary teeth, representing a challenge for restoring function and aesthetics. Given this, ceromer crowns have emerged as an effective, affordable alternative due to their domestic manufacture. easy preparation, and conservative technique compared to other aesthetic crowns. Clinical case. A 4-year-old female patient presented to the Specialization Clinic in Child and Adolescent Stomatology for comprehensive care due to multiple carious lesions and previously defective restorations. The initial clinical evaluation revealed a diagnostic of severe early childhood caries, with significant structural compromise in the upper anterior teeth (51, 52, 61 and 62) and the upper primary first molars (54 and 64). During the intraoral examination, extensive cavitated lesions (ICDAS 0-5) were observed, along with greater than 60% coronal structural loss in the incisors, and previously infiltrated restorations with poor marginal adaptation. The patient presented positive behavior according to Frankl´´'s standard, so a cognitive-behavioral approach allowed for treatment with ceromer crowns in the preventive and restorative phases. Conslusion. Ceromer crowns represent an aesthetically and functionally viable restorative option in pediatric patients, with a high level of acceptance and optimal clinical resullts.
