Abstract

Introduction: Child-rearing in oral health is an elective course in the postgraduate program in Pediatric Stomatology that comprehensively addresses the conditions of infants aged 0 to 12 months in an interprofessional context. Objective: To detect early alterations of the stomatognathic system and promote vital functions such as sucking, swallowing, and breathing. In this context, the pediatric dentist actively participates in supporting breastfeeding through the evaluation of the sucking pattern and the analysis of craniofacial growth, based on measurements of the cranio-maxillofacial structures. Conclusion: This proposal constitutes a comprehensive care model for education and prevention of oral health in infants.
