Planas Direct Tracks therapy in anterior crossbite: A neuro-occlusal rehabilitation approach
Keywords:
Planas Tracks, Reverse Bite, Neuro-occlusal rehabilitationAbstract
Introduction: Planas Direct Tracks are used as a functional therapy in the primary dentition, the mechanism of action is through mandibular repositioning preventing the establishment of morphological and positional asymmetries in young children, allowing a symmetrical craniofacial development. Objectives: To analyze the available evidence on the therapeutic use of Planas direct tracks in the correction of anterior underbite in primary dentition. Review: Two searches were performed in the Pubmed and Scopus IA databases using the terms (Planas Direct Tracks and Primary Dentition). 13 files were found, 8 related articles were included, 3 duplicates were eliminated, 3 articles were incorporated with a forward search and 2 in retrospective. The inclusion criteria were: anterior crossbite/overbite, direct planes, primary dentition. Finally, 13 articles were selected. Conclusions and recommendations: Early diagnosis is essential to prevent growth restriction and promote symmetrical jaw development in children with anterior underbite, avoiding functional adaptations in mastication, phonetics, and posture. Early correction of this condition can reduce the need for more complex future treatments and promote optimal psychological and social development.
