Abstract

Introduction:ASD, is a neurobiological developmental condition that presents in childhood being affected cognitive, emotional and social skills (1).In dentistry,it has been seen that these patients are more susceptible to caries and gingivitis due to poor brushing and increased oral sensitivity (1). In addition, these problems can be aggravated due to the social risk that surrounds the patient as a consequence of little or no access to dental care, lack of knowledge of dental hygiene and diet. (2)Case report: In a school patient, 6 years 8 months old, Frankl 1, with social risk, diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder grade 3, in treatment with daily risperidone, in phonoaudiological and occupational therapy treatment, adaptation techniques are performed: tell-show-do, positive reinforcement, desensitization and audiovisual modeling/distraction during dental care and oral preventive treatment, achieving a change in cariogenic risk from moderate to low. Conclusions: In dental practice, we have the challenge of developing different adaptive techniques to effectively care for the tea patients. Also, regarding the socioeconomic level of the patient it is very important to educate the parents and the patient regarding hygiene and dietary habits in order to maintain oral health in optimal conditions
