Abstract

Introduction: The WOW Factor is a communicational and sensory strategy focused on generating positive surprise, charm, and emotional connection during the consultation. Going beyond simple entertainment, it is based on the intentional use of visual, auditory, symbolic, and affective resources to modify the emotional state of the pediatric patient. Case presentation: A 5-year-old female patient with high levels of anxiety, hypervigilance, anticipatory crying, and resistance to entering the office. Using WOW Factor strategies, we sought to gain her trust and be able to talk to her, gradually reducing her tension and allowing for a non-invasive clinical examination. In the follow-up, the girl reported positively on her experience, ensuring that subsequent routine visits were positive and without episodes of extreme fear or crying. Conclusion: By integrating effective communication techniques, visual resources, and emotional containment strategies, the WOW Factor creates a safe and memorable atmosphere. This case demonstrates that when the emotional experience is prioritized, not only is the child's cooperation achieved, but the family's perception of the dental procedure is also transformed.
