Abstract

Introduction: In the current context of dental education, the incorporation of audiovisual resources has become an essential tool to optimize learning processes, especially in sensitive areas such as pediatric dentistry. Objective: This proposal aims to implement videos with clinical simulations as an innovative teaching strategy for the instruction of technical, communication, and behavioral skills in the management of pediatric patients. These materials can be used in schools, community centers, and family settings, promoting a more humane experience for the child. Project presentation: Through audiovisual material, the goal is to enhance the understanding of clinical procedures, improve content retention, and reduce anxiety in both students and pediatric patients. The educational videos, developed in realistic settings with guided clinical narratives and employing behavior management techniques, can be used in academic environments and in educational workshops with children and caregivers when students participate in university outreach activities, or in the waiting room of the university clinic. Likewise, they can be sent to parents via social media so that children can watch them before dental appointments, helping to reduce their anxiety levels and improve their perception of dental procedures. Conclusions: Students value the accessibility and applicability of the material. The proposal aligns with a contemporary pedagogical vision that recognizes the importance of the visual, the practical, and the emotional in the learning process, tailored to the needs of new generations of students and patients.
