Introduction: The Pediatric Dentistry Postgraduate Program at the University of Costa Rica combines clinical, community-based, and inclusive training aimed at providing comprehensive care to vulnerable populations. This initiative reflects the institution's commitment to health equity, inclusion, and social responsibility. Objective: To describe a pedagogical strategy that integrates diverse educational settings to strengthen the social awareness, clinical competence, and interdisciplinary approach of future specialists. Methodology: Residents rotate through public schools, hospitals, and penitentiary centers, providing dental care to populations with limited access to services. They treat children aged 0–3 whose mothers are incarcerated and adolescents in conflict with the law, in coordination with public institutions. They also participate in procedures under general anesthesia and complex surgeries at the National Children’s Hospital. As part of the course “How to maintain my oral health,” offered at the Faculty of Dentistry and aimed at individuals with cognitive disabilities, they collaborate in educational workshops that promote self-care and inclusive health education. Results: This experience fosters the development of technical, ethical, communicative, and social competencies, encouraging a professional practice grounded in human rights and person-centered care. Conclusions: Community-oriented comprehensive training enhances the preparation of professionals committed to social transformation through dentistry, ready to address the clinical and human challenges of caring for vulnerable populations.
